Bulgaria Footy 9s jumper front
The first traces of Bulgarian emigration to Australia date back to 1876, when an unknown number of Bulgarians fleeing the Ottoman atrocities in the wake of the April Uprising settled in Queensland and Tasmania.

According to the 2016 census, 3,284 Australian residents were born in Bulgaria and 6,766 people of Bulgarian ancestry are settled in Australia, mainly as a result of inter-war migration.
